London
I'm planning my first trip to London in late-April and will have a couple of free days. Can anyone recommend a good mid-priced hotel that's near all the action? Also, any interesting things to do other than the obvious stuff and favorite pubs/restaurants would be great. Thanks.

You might want to stay in Victoria; it is well connected by public transport, close to a number of "must see" tourist spots.
Also there are a number of B&B's in that area. I used to stay at "Thistle Hotel" in Victoria, they provide you with a complimentary English/Continental breakfast. It is also the pick-up station for many of the london sightseeing bus tours.
Enjoy your break.

In the area around the U of London / British Museum there are many townhomes that have been converted into small hotels - cheap, clean, and usually including breakfast. They also put you in the heart of a London residential area with easy access to the tourist stuff. Also, you can save a little $ if you share a bathroom, usually just with a couple of other guests.
As for things to do - see the Tower, take the "Jack The Ripper" tour - eat the "plowman's lunch" at the pub across the street from the British museum - see a play at The Globe - get your trinkets at Camden Yards - and always mind the gap.

Hi David, Glad you enjoyed your trip to London. Are you going to upload some of those pics, in Flickr?
